February 19 & 20, 2005
While other couples were trying to think
of new, creative ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day,
these groups of sports enthusiasts had no trouble marking
this Red Letter Day.
Last February 19 and 20, Clubsixfifty Lifestyle Sports
Center in Libis, with the help of Mizuno, Blue Angel Alcohol,
Nivea Sun, C2 Green Tea and Citibank Gold Card, put up yet
another successful badminton tournament. Aptly dubbed “With
Smashing Passion,” the tournament was a gathering
of true lovers…of the game of badminton. Tournament
Director Karen Tanchanco-Caballero, explains, “Badminton
fanatics, like most Filipinos are, are true romantics and
what better way than to create a themed-badminton event
that’s in time for the season of hearts.”
The all-mixed event was also a way of fostering camaraderie
among Clubsixfifty’s tenants—who formed teams
composed of pairs for the A1, A2 B1, B2, C, D levels—Figaro
Libis, Istana Bali Beach Bar, Red Corner, Ink Tec, California
Nails and Day Spa, Ice Monster, All Terra Cyclery, Tape
Measure, Rehab 650, Motolite, Sports Warehouse, and Sports
Haven. “We wanted to enlist our tenants and create
a tournament for them to have a feel of how dynamic the
badminton community is and in a way, introduce a part of
this community to our tenants who offer great services.”
Caballero adds.
In the end, Team Figaro Libis walked away with the grand
prize of P5,000. Other winners were:
(A1 category) Thea Cordero & Joseph Langie
(A2 category) Marites Jampas & Jimmy Fernandez
(B1 category) Tiffany Ng & Bernard Santos
(B2 category) Mai Bautista & Rony Del Rosario
(C category) Helen Tan & Marcus Tan
(D category) Che Lorenzo & Butch Lorenzo
